Karol and Kazia by Laura Kafka-Price features the winning illustrations of the Children’s Rhymes Illustration Contest in which children from grades two through eight submitted artwork to illustrate Polish poet Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna’s poems set to music by Karol Szymanowski in his Rymy dziecięce (Children’s Rhymes) songs.
The poems are about two sisters, Krzysia and Lalka, whose lively imaginations take them on adventures before falling asleep. The girls make up stories about animals, birds, home, Christmas, happy and sad days, and wind dancing among flowering trees in springtime.
The winners of the illustration contest will be receiving their free copies soon! The book will also be available for purchase on Amazon at a cost of $15.00. Stay tuned!
